Shirodhara

Being the combination of two words, “Shira“ meaning head and “Dhara“ meaning stream, Shirodhara includes gentle pouring of medicated liquids over the head for a certain duration. Its preventive and curative measures work like magic to balance the “doshas“ in the body. Gentle massage helps inducing oil deep into the scalp to improve blood circulation and reduce stress hormones, ultimately treating psychosomatic problems such as anxiety, depression. There are several types of Shirodhara, depending on the liquids getting used, like “Snehadhara“ uses herbal oils, “Ksheer Dhara“ uses milk, and “Takra Dhara“ uses buttermilk. The duration is typically 30-60 minutes, however, completely depends on the severity of the illness.
